Now, some of you will say that the fall television season doesn't start until Oct. 4, when LOST premieres or until The Office starts new episodes on Sept. 21. You'd be wrong. The new fall lineup has already begun, at least at our house.
Sesame Street is all new as of Monday. They've got a new muppet. They've got new sketches, including Law and Order: Special Letters Unit--complete with Munch muppet (Munchet?) and special "chunk-chunk" sound (click the link to see it on YouTube). Alas, they've still got Elmo and his persistent refusal to use personal pronouns.
Still, I'm glad to say that Sesame Street is enjoying a resurgence in our house, thanks to a 3-CD box set called "Songs from the Street." It was given to us by some friends quite a while ago, but Connery has lately decided it is the coolest thing since Pirates of Penzance. And that's just fine with us. We love listening to Cab Calloway and Tony Bennett and Steven Tyler. Not to mention Kermit the Frog. While some of Connery's musical choices live only in his playroom so that we can try to limit our own insanity, Sesame Street lives in the family room, where we can all enjoy it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to study the lyrics to Rubber Duckie.
