I've been on one.
A goodly portion of it was spent in isolation from all of the modern communications conveniences (no Internet OR cell service), which is something that I really need to do at least once a year. That was relaxing. Traveling with a four year old and an almost-three month old? I don't need to tell any of you parents in the audience that it was not exactly relaxing. I could have used a few days of holiday following my vacation, actually.
That said, we did enjoy some excellent family time with both sets of grandparents as well as a great overnight in Missoula with Chip's aunt and uncle. With a visit to Missoula's super-cool farmer's market last Saturday morning, I had already accomplished everything I'd wanted to on the vacation. Which was good because when we all got in the car to go on to the next leg of the trip that afternoon, it wouldn't start.
More on that--and family--later.
